Spanish Football Federation to take decision on rain affected match – La Liga News
Athletic-B and Deportivo Alaves have failed to arrive on a date to replay their rain-marred clash. Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) has been called to find a resolution for the deadlock after all proposals were rejected.
The two involved parties have conflicting stances on the replay date which has led to RFEF intervening. Spectacular Lezama rains allowed only 52 minutes of play before the officials called it off.
Deportivo Alaves held the hosts to a well-earned 0-0 score-line before nature took control and the players obliged.
Athletic and Alaves have not been able to reach an understanding position. As a result the federation has been called upon to deliver a final verdict.
Stances of both clubs have been insurmountable in establishing the resumption of the clash. They have to complete the fixture before end of the first round on January 8, 2012.
Visiting Alaves proposed Wednesday, November 23, for the fixture after giving it a considerable time. However, the date was unfeasible for Athletic and they duly rejected the suggestion.
As a counter offer, Athletic gave dates for the recommencement of the encounter. Just like the case with Alaves’ proposal, the proposition was impractical for the host team.
It was suggested that the match could be played on Tuesday, December 6. The date fell on the Constitution day, and hence, was not viable. Playing on Friday, December 23 was rejected on the grounds that it came in the run-up to Christmas.
Three dates have been rejected thus far, with Alaves coming back from Salamanca in the first one while receiving Ponferradina in Mendizorroza. The third was rejected as winter break starts from December 18th.
Since, most of Alaves players are based out of Vitoria and are travelling to their hometowns in that period to reunite with families.
Athletic will be fine with any one of their proposed dates. With all players in the Athletic squad based in Basque country playing during the vacations is not a hurdle for them.
Coach 'Cuco' Ziganda active in training his players until the last moment, any decision by RFEF will be welcomed.
