Spanish La Liga – Barcelona vs. Real Sociedad – second half report (Part 2)
Barcelona was ready to defeat Real Sociedad for the eleventh time in a row at the Nou Camp. For the past 10 games Barcelona played against Real Sociedad at the Nou Camp, the Catalan Giants were victorious in all 10 of them. A total aggregate of 23-3 was kept by the Spanish Champions.
Barcelona were simply toying with Real Sociedad’s players as they moved the ball around with ease, while the young striker, Bojan Krkic, looked to be standing on the touchline for a substitution. He was definitely going to provide more pace to Guardiola’s team.
Pedro Rodriguez was taken off for Bojan Krkic, as both the youngsters were to change each other. They both belonged to the same La Masia batch. With Pedro Rodriguez being substituted, his goal scoring streak for seven consecutive games came to an end.
However, he did manage to provide two assists during this game and that took his assist tally to eight this season. This is quite sensational, considering the fact that he is still not a first team regular and still very young.
During the 63rd minute, Lionel Messi spotted the run of Andres Iniesta and while bringing the ball down, the Real Sociedad defender nudged him down and there was a loud penalty kick shout.
However, the referee did not look to be interested as David Villa tried his luck on goal but failed to find the back of the net, with his left footed strike.
During the 72nd minute, Xavi Hernandez was taken off, as Josep Guardiola decided to save his midfield maestro for the next game. The Spaniard was suffering with fitness issues for the past few weeks and the Catalan coach knew exactly what to do to with his first choice midfielder and this was the right time to bring in Seydou Keita.
During the 77th minute there was another Lionel Messi “blaster.” However, he could not really score on this occasion.
David Villa and Maxwell combined well on the left flank as the former Inter Milan man made a run in towards the 18 yard box. The Brazilian full back passed the ball onto Lionel Messi, who tried to touch it back towards Maxwell, but it deflected off De La Bella. With the ball heading towards the best player in the world, he moved forward to shoot the ball inside the goal but he could only connect to the woodwork as the ball deflected out and a goal was not scored.
During the 87th minute, Lionel Messi got his chance to score his seventeenth goal of this season’s Spanish La Liga. It was the Spanish youngster Bojan Krkic, who passed the ball onto Lionel Messi. The Argentinean magician got past the whole Real Sociedad defence line and after being at the right position, he planted the ball into the net to help his side lead the game by four goals.
The game was definitely not over yet as Bojan Krkic came forward from the right flank and shot the ball onto the goal but it was saved by the Real Sociedad goalkeeper, Bravo Munoz. The deflected shot was taken by Bojan again as he hammered it into the back of the net to make it 5-0 for Barcelona.
It was another 5-0 victory for the Catalan Giants at the Nou Camp. With this win, Barcelona managed to keep six clean sheets in a row along with nine straight wins. The Spaniards are definitely the favourites to win another double, this season.
Can they win it? Well, that is a question that only time can tell.
