Spanish La Liga Full Time Report: Getafe dominate but Malaga take home three points

Malaga continued their impressive, away record that they have been maintaining so far this season, with a win over Getafe. The team ended up as victors on the night, thanks to two second half goals, which were scored by Jose Salomon
Rondon and Antonio Apono. However the match was one which was highly contested, as both teams ended the night with ten men instead of eleven.
Malaga, have not had a very good start at their home so far this season, but have been doing rather remarkably well on the road. The team lost both of its home games, while winning both of its away matches. They beat Real Zaragoza
two weeks ago, away from home and repeated the same success against Getafe tonight.
The opening goal on the night came in the fifty fourth minute, as Rondon took the lead for the away team. Only minutes later Apono doubled the advantage for the visitors, as a result of a spot kick. The penalty was awarded after
Rafa Lopez made a very sloppy tackle in the box and was given the marching orders as a result of his mistimed challenge.
Four minutes later, the number of men on both sides of the pitch was level again. This was because the Malaga captain, Jesus Gamez was shown a red, as a result of a very reckless challenge and was forced to head into the tunnel
to take an early shower.
Getafe tried to push on in the later stages of the match, as they tried to get back into the game. But their efforts ended up with no real result as Malaga went on to win the game in the end.
What was interesting about tonight’s match, was the fact that it was dominated by the home side and Malaga only managed to attack them on the counter.
Getafe had a total of twenty four shots on goal, when compared to the fifteen that Malaga had. The end result of the match just proves that a few precision shots, are far better than a million randomly taken chances at goal.
Getafe also dominated possession on the night, as the match ended they had sixty five percent of the total possession when compared to the thirty five percent that Malaga had; which once again proved, having the ball at your feet
and doing nothing with it, is as good as not having the ball at all.
Malaga as a result of the victory have jumped to the eighth position in the La Liga rankings, while Getafe have been dropped to the eleventh spot, just outside the top ten, where they were sitting prior to the match.
Getafe will be looking to look into what went wrong during the game, since if the team keeps up this same form, it won't be long before they are dropped into the bottom third of the table. On the other hand Malaga will be looking
to continue, this fine run of form at home also, since only winning all their away games cannot get them so far.
