Spanish La Liga – Match Preview – Barcelona vs. Real Sociedad
The Catalan Giants are going to try to continue their outstanding run of form as they are going to face the surprising Real Sociedad in a Spanish La Liga encounter. Barcelona have been in excellent form as they have managed to stay at the top of the table
for two weeks in a row after defeating Jose Mourinho’s Real Madrid in an El Clasico tie which took place at the Nou Camp.
The Blaugrana side have managed to set records after records while being under their new coach Josep Guardiola who joined them back a little less than three years ago. Josep Guardiola has helped Barcelona win eight out of ten titles in two seasons and it
is a record that even a coach like Jose Mourino has to pull off.
This season, the Spanish Champions have not lost their touch either. There is no doubt that they did slack off during the start of the season and that was basically because of the fitness crises. Most of the Barcelona players were involved in the FIFA World
Cup 2010 and because of an “extra” competition they simply felt tired and were not given enough time to rest during the vacations. After losing a home game to a newly promoted side Hercules, most of the fans though that the Spanish Giants were simply not the
same but thanks to the Spanish mastermind Josep Guardiola, each and every player was given the rest he needed and now the Spanish Giants are back in form.
This season Barcelona have managed to set up another Spanish La Liga record as they have managed to win the highest number of away games. Moreover, Guardiola has also helped his side smooth pass most of the home games and after losing the game against Hercules,
Barcelona have not lost a single game at home. On the other hand, Real Sociedad are also a newly promoted Spanish La Liga side and after being a part of the second tire for four campaigns in a row, the Spanish underdogs are back but this time they are showing
great form as they stand firm in the middle of the points table.
Currently Barcelona have a 100% record while being away from home and they are yet to face defeat. On the other hand, the Catalan Giants have experienced only a single loss at home. Real Sociedad are currently eighth on the points table and after 14 matches
the newly promoted Martin Lasarte’s men have only managed to win twice while being away from home. However, at home they look to be very strong as they have won five of the games that they have played in Anoeta. However, last weekend they managed to pull off
a win against their local city side Athletic Bilbao and their confidence looks totally on the boost.
The Spanish Giants are suffering from a few injuries. After the game against the Russian giants during the last UEFA Champions League group stage game. In the aftermath of the clash only Bojan Krkic and Seydou Keita were back in training as they were given
quick medical assistance after a minor injury. On the other hand, Jeffren Suarez is out of action yet again while the Argentinean centre back Gabriel Milito is out injured as well so he is not going to be a part of the Barcelona bench.
Real Sociedad do not have any injured players in their squad but two players are coming back after suspensions. The former Espanyol captain Raul Tamudo is now back along with Borja Viguera as they both missed the clash against Athletic Club. Diego Ifran
and Imanol Agirretxe are the two players that are going to be on the bench even though they performed well during the last fixture that they played.
