Spanish La Liga: Real Madrid vs. Valencia - Full Time Report (Part 1)
With the second half kicking off, none of the sides decided to change things round as both the managers looked to be satisfied with the way their sides were performing. The Spanish giants, Real Madrid, looked to be in control during
the start of the second half and after Mesut Ozil was waved offside, as Xabi Alonso played him a long ball, Valencia took a free kick that was taken by their goalkeeper. However, the kick only managed to reach Ozil, who passed it on to Cristiano Ronaldo, who
found himself alone in the penalty area. The Portuguese captain took a shot on goal and it was well saved by the Valencia goalkeeper Vicente Guaita.
Right after two minutes of that chance, Angel Di Maria got a one-on-one opportunity with the Valencia goalkeeper Guaita. The Argentinean managed to find the ball at his feet after a wonderful through ball from Cristiano Ronaldo, but
the Real Madrid man’s try failed and could not find the back of the net, as Guaita managed to make another extraordinary save.
During the 53rd minute, Jose Mourinho’s frustration came out in the form of a substitution and it was Sami Khedira, who went off for the out of form Frenchman Karim Benzema. With Gonzalo Higuain out for the Spanish side,
Jose Mourinho looked out of options up front, as Karim Benzema never looked to be as good as the Argentinean striker.
Despite the fact that Benzema seems to be out of touch this season, as the Frenchman only managed to find a single goal, it was still the Real Madrid number 9 who managed to lay down a lot of assists. It was clearly seen that Benzema
was not comfortable playing alone up front as a sole striker like Gonzalo Higuain; however, the Frenchman did perform well while playing as a shadow striker.
Jordi Alba came off for Miguel Monteiro during the 61st minute of the game. Miguel was now featuring as a left back for the Valencia side as a strange substitution took place for the visitors. With Real Madrid, trying
to hold the ball into their own half, the visitors still managed to break wonderfully at times and David Albelda found himself in front of goal during the 63rd minute, but the chance was wasted as no one was there to help him as he was left alone
while running for the ball.
