Spanish La Liga: Real Madrid vs. Valencia – Full Time Report (Part 2)
During the 65th minute, a decision from the referee totally shocked the Valencia coach and fans as David Albelda managed to find him being booked for the second time during the game. After a tackle on Cristiano Ronaldo
during the first half, Albelda got a yellow card and with just a flick on his arm during the second half, he got booked again to earn himself a second yellow as he walked off the pitch.
With Valencia, being a man down, Real Madrid looked to be in the driving seat as Cristiano Ronaldo, Mesut Ozil, Karim Benzema and Angel Di Maria all tried to use their pace in order to take advantage of the extra man so that they
could score goals.
Juan Mata was taken off for the Argentinean midfielder Ever Banega as the Valencia coach was now eyeing a draw. With another midfielder in the squad, the Spaniards were now playing 4-4-1 with Roberto Soldado being the only striker
for them.
With only 17 minutes remaining in the game, frustrations started to revolve the Real Madrid side and soon a chance did come during a counter attack. The Frenchman Karim Benzema managed to lay down a perfect ball for the running
Portuguese Cristiano Ronaldo, who made no mistake in planting the ball into the net to put his side in front.
Esteban Granero was soon seen warming up and a substitution was made as Mesut Ozil was taken off for the young Real Madrid player. On the other hand, Valencia made a change as well as their recently signed player Aritz Aduriz came
on for the Valencia captain Joaquin Sanchez. Later, Mahamadou Diarra was brought on for the Argentinean striker Angel Di Maria, who actually missed a lot of opportunities for his side.
Cristiano Ronaldo managed to find the second goal and when the Portuguese captain got the ball at his feet right outside the 18-yard box, he wanted Diarra to rush forward. However, with the midfielder not reading Ronaldo’s signs,
the Portuguese captain ran on his own and scored the second to help his side take control of the game with a two-goal margin.
The mach ended with Real Madrid winning it 2-0 at their home ground, the Santiago Bernabeu. With the Los Blancos winning it, they were back to a two-point gap between them and Barcelona. The game looked to be coming to a draw,
but the red card in the second half helped Mourinho’s side steal victory on their home ground and despite the fact the Portuguese coach was not playing his best side, he still managed to win it at home.
