Spanish La Liga – Real Zaragoza vs. Real Madrid – First Half Report
The Spanish Giants were ready to face Real Zaragoza as Zaragoza were to entertain Jose Mourinho’s men. Real Madrid were being backed by the extraordinary 0-4 result against Auxerre during the midweek as their new regular striker Karim
Benzema found a hat trick with some help from Mesut Ozil and Cristiano Ronaldo. On the other hand, Real Zaragoza were fighting at the bottom of the Spanish La Liga table and they were in a must-win situation against a team like Real Madrid.
Real Madrid featured their captain Iker Casillas right between the two poles and he was being helped by Marcelo on the left full back position and Alvaro Arbeloa on the right full back position. The Portuguese centre backs Ricardo Carvalho
and Pepe were standing guard to help Casillas at the back as well as Carvalho was seen playing for Madrid after the big El Clasico match against Barcelona which the Los Blancos lost 5-0 while being away from home.
In the midfield a new player was introduced by Jose Mourinho as the German holding midfielder Sami Khedira was seen on the bench while Lasana Diarra took his place on the pitch. Xabi Alonso was assisting him in his favourite holding midfield
position as Mesut Ozil took the centre attacking role. Angel Di Maria featured on the right flank while the highest goal scorer for Real Madrid, Cristiano Ronaldo featured on the left flank. With Gonzalo Higuain missing the match due to injury, it was the
Frenchman Karim Benzema who took his position as the sole striker.
On the other hand, the home team Real Zaragoza were playing their toughest team as well. Leo Franco was standing guard between the two poles and took his part as a goal stopper. He was being helped by Carlos Diogo, Maurizio Lanzaro, Jiri
Jarosik and Paredes at the back. The home team captain Gabi and the Brazilian midfielder Edmilson featured at the centre of the pitch as Lafita and Ander played wide out as wingers. Nicolas Bertolo and Florent Sinama Pongolle played up front as strikers to
change the cause of the game. The bottom table side were playing a traditional 4-4-2 while Real Madrid were playing their favourite 4-2-3-1 with only Sami Khedira missing out in the starting 11.
The game started off with great pace as Real Zaragoza were seen taking advantage of their home ground and home crowd. With Zaragoza trying to outpace Real Madrid up front, it was quite obvious that the Los Blancos were trying their best
to counter attack. Their efforts did not go to vain as they did manage to find the first goal of the game.
