Spanish La Liga – Real Zaragoza vs. Real Madrid – First Half Report (Part 2)
With Real Zaragoza concentrating too much on finding the first goal of the game, Jose Mourinho’s men took the opportunity to break on a counter and it was Xabi Alonso who managed to pass the ball onto Angel Di Maria. The Argentinean winger passed the ball
onto the Germany’s World Cup sensation, Mesut Ozil who was making a run from the right flank. With Ozil being the only man present on the position and with only the Zaragoza goalkeeper being in front of him, the goal was quite obvious. The German attacking
midfielder made no mistake as he had enough time to bring the ball onto his stronger left foot to shoot it to find the back of the net as Real Madrid scored the first goal of the game. If Real Madrid were to win this game, they would go top of the table just
a point above Barcelona who were to play after Real Madrid – a home game against the newly promoted side Real Zaragoza.
The first half looked to be very physical as Alvaro Arbeloa and the Brazilian full back Marcelo both picked up early yellow cards. Arbelao found himself in the referee’s books because of a late challenge on the Real Zaragoza captain Gabi. However, on the
other hand, Marcelo was shown a yellow card because of his protest after Gabi fouled Angel Di Maria. The Brazilian full back threw the ball out of the pitch and protested over the fact that Gabi was not booked even after a late challenge on the Argentinean
winger.
Iker Casillas was featuring in his 400th Spanish La Liga fixture and only with one team, Real Madrid. The Spaniard was also the captain of the FIFA World Cup 2010’s winning team Spain. He was definitely a brick wall for both the Spanish teams
and he was having an extraordinary game against Real Zaragoza as well.
During the 44th game, Lasana Diarra was taken down right outside the 18 yard box by the Zaragoza defender and Real Madrid got a free kick. It was the Real Madrid highest goal scorer Cristiano Ronaldo who was to take it and the fabulous goal scorer
managed to score again with the help of a free kick. He struck the ball on the top left corner and it was definitely not a shock for anyone because everyone simply saw this coming. Just before the end of the first half, Real Madrid were leading the game with
two goals while being away from home.
