Spanish La Liga – Real Zaragoza vs. Real Madrid – Second Half Report (Part 2)
It was the effect of a double substitution made by the Real Zaragoza coach. The Mexican manager decided to take the Brazilian midfielder Edmilson off for Leonardo Ponzio while the striker Florent Sinama Pongolle was taken off for
Marco Perez Murillo. Both the substitutions worked fine for their side as both of them provided great pace at the back and up front. It was now easier for Real Zaragoza to stop the counter attacks while Real Madrid were not looking to stop the goal fest as
they kept on moving up front to score more for their side.
On the other hand, Real Madrid also made a change during the 75th minute. Real Madrid dominated most of the game and created a lot of chances, but the lone striker Karim Benzema just could not keep up with the pace of the other
players who were playing alongside him. The Frenchman scored a hat trick during the midweek UEFA Champions League fixture against Auxerre, but totally failed to impress his coach and the Real Madrid fans during this game as he missed five clear opportunities
to find the back of the net.
With Real Madrid leading the game and the clock ticking down, the frustration increased for the home side while Jose Mourinho was busy analyzing Karim Benzema’s performance and he was taken off for Esteban Granero, the young Madrid
star who was to feature in the midfield as Cristiano Ronaldo took the striking position. Mesut Ozil was also taken off later for Mahamadou Diarra, as Madrid were now relying too much on their defence. However, they were still playing their favourite counter
attacking football.

During the 88th minute, a new face was seen on the touchline for Real Madrid as Mourinho decided to introduce a Real Madrid B team player.
His name was Alvaro Morata and wearing the No.29 jersey, he took no time to show his skill on the ball. The Real Madrid youngster was played on the left flank while Cristiano Ronaldo played in the centre role. The Spaniard got
three good opportunities to score but he could not really find the back of the net as the away crowd was getting to his head and putting him under pressure.
The match ended with Real Madrid winning it with a two-goal margin as Real Madrid headed towards the top of the table for the next hundred minutes. Barcelona were to face Real Sociedad after Real Madrid’s clash with Real Zaragoza.
However, for now, the Los Blancos were leading the points table with a single point as Real Madrid were ready to take their top spot back from Jose Mourinho’s side.
