Spanish La Liga: Who will be the best forward this coming season?
The Spanish La Liga is one of the only leagues in the world that focuses more on attacking football then anything else. The teams that are fielded are adjusted in such a way that only the best and most attacking tactics are used, since defending over the top is something that appears to be forbidden in the league.
This attacking style of play would only prove to be helpful if the main man up front was delivering the goods and repeatedly getting on the score sheet for his team. Since at the end of the day it’s down to the forwards to convert all the chances they get to score goals, the burden is heavy on their shoulders to deliver those crucial three points for the team after every win.
Here is a look at some of the players in La Liga who would be in competition to score the highest number of goals in La Liga.
Cristiano Ronaldo
Contrary to popular belief Cristiano Ronaldo had a more than decent inaugural season with Real Madrid. The player scored over twenty goals last season despite the fact that he was injured for most parts of the campaign.
Every time Ronaldo plays, he is assumed to get his name on the score sheet, since it only seems like the natural style of play that one has come to expect of the player.
However Ronaldo will be managed by Jose Mourinho at Real Madrid this season, which could end up in two completely different results for the player. Firstly he could either not score half as many goals as he has been scoring for the last couple of years due to the fact that Mourinho likes to play an ultra defensively or the player could go crazy scoring countless goals because of the fact that, he could burst out on the counter and everyone knows that when Ronaldo is in full stride it is close to impossible for anyone to keep up with him.
Lionel Messi
One of the first names that everyone puts on their list of the best strikers or forwards in the world is of Lionel Messi. Messi managed to score over forty goals last season and said that he wished to improve on that record this season. It would be a stupid mistake to doubt that the player can't beat the all time goals scored record, since if any one is going to be breaking that record it's going to be the Argentine wonder.
Messi is quite possibly the most feared forward in the world, since he can quite possibly do almost anything at almost anytime. The goal scoring machine is usually on its pristine form and if Messi doesn't score in a game it appears to be an odd occurrence.
This following season however the player will be looking to go all out in order to make up for the disappointing run he had at the FIFA World Cup 2010 and to prove to the world just why he is the current holder of the FIFA World Player of the Year award.
David Villa
A player who will be playing alongside Messi for the first time at Barcelona is, David Villa. The forward has already managed to acquire twenty eight goals and ten assists in the last season and this was without playing with in one of the best teams in the world. With the Catalans it is expected that Villa will enter a new phase of his life one that is far better than before.
Villa will be playing with the likes of Lionel Messi, Xavi Hernandez and Andres Iniesta this season, which can only mean that the forward will have all the support that he could hope for. If he manages to utilize this support he could possibly give his team mate, Messi a run for the money to win the title of being the best striker in La Liga.
