Spanish - Nintendo DS?

Hi guys,

Just wondering whether you use "el" or "la" for names of game consoles like Nintendo DS, Playstation, PSP. I've seen "la Nintendo DS" in an article but not sure if that's correct. Are there any rules as to which one it should be? i.e. Who decides whether it's el or la?

So for example, how would you say, "The Nintendo DS is next to the TV"?

Also just wondering how you pronounce these in Castillian (not Latin American) spanish when you say their abbreviated forms:

DS --> is it "de ese" or "dee es"?

PSP --> "pe ese pe" or "pee es pee"?

DVD --> "de uve de" or "dee vee dee"?

It can vary a bit through countries, but the masculine "el" is more accepted for all those.

"el nintendo"

"el play (playstation)"

if you reffer to the blundie (consola)... is "La"

"La (consola) nintendo"

Here in mexico,

DVD can be "devede" or "deeveedee (dividí)"
