Spanish Open 2012: Jakub Bitman earns a spot in main draw of Men’s Singles event
Men’s Singles campaigner Jakub Bitman of Czech Republic ensured his presence in the main draw of the Spanish Open after clearing qualifying round on May 17, 2012.
The Czech player outclassed two shuttlers Jeremie Puyo and Daniel Grassmueck of France and Austria respectively.
Jakub set the foundation of his consecutive victories by stamping Jeremie Puyo in his opening match with remarkable totals of 21-10 and 21-15.
He continued his successful run in the next game as well as he overpowered Daniel Grassmueck by registering concluding margin of 21-15, 19-21 and 21-18.
In first chapter of this victory saga Jakub mesmerised the audience with a staggering performance. He wrapped the show in just two games by spending 20 minutes in court.
He launched a swift attack in first set of match and got into commanding position by clinching vital points immediately.
Though his opponent narrowed the gap with some continuous rallies but still he reached at decent total of 11 before the interval.
Jakub accelerated his pace in later part of the game and established an unassailable lead which turned final blow to Jeremie as he surrendered after reading final margin of 21-10.
The next game also completely belonged to Jakub as he sealed straight-set victory in even more impressive manner.
However, this time French shuttler Jeremie placed a decent total of 15 before losing with 15-21 score on the board.
This win took Jakub in third stage of qualifying round where he was up against Austrian shuttler Daniel Grassmueck.
Both contenders made this encounter memorable as they snapped at each other’s heels throughout three exhausting sets.
The Czech campaigner showed his intentions in very first game as he fetched crucial match point with a significant six-point advantage in final total of 21-15.
However, the opposing shuttler Daniel brought life back into contest by levelling match score in second set.
This time he matched his higher ranked opponent’s skills and remained close until game point situation. He made the difference by clinching final two points to place a winning figure of 21-19.
The third and final set also remained on knife’s edge until last moments but Jakub brought the balance in his favour by putting decisive total of 21-18 to secure a berth in main round of the event.
