The final that took place at the Olympic Stadium in Kiev on Sunday saw the Reds establish their superiority over European football as they became the only side to win the Euro twice in succession.
The record-breaking triumph has brought joy to Spanish fans all over the world and their Prime Minister was quick to point this out.
The politician emphasized that it is imperative to cherish such moments as they are the source of a lot of joy for the masses.
This was the Spanish national side’s third consecutive international triumph and La Furia Roja have been completely dominating the world of international football for four years now.
They managed to lift their first European Championship trophy in 2008. The title winning campaign in 2008 was followed by a FIFA World Cup win in South Africa two years later.
Hence, after being established as the champions of the world along with being the champions of Europe, the Iberians have reclaimed the title they won 4 years ago.
Mariano Rajoy praised the European champions and accredited the victory to the players along with the head coach.
While talking to reporters, the 57-year-old quoted:
“It was awesome. I was in Vienna, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/South-Africa-c757 and now here [Kiev]. Let's enjoy it. Millions of Spaniards have enjoyed it and find this team comforting.”
"We are all humans, we all have our problems, but the joys that come from this win are very nice. Today we are all very happy, but we have to thank the team and the coach, they have done very well. They are a great group, very friendly,
and great fun to be around."
If Spain continue their success story, they will most definitely establish themselves as the greatest international side of all time.
