Spanish Primera Division – Match Preview: Malaga C.F versus Real Madrid
Malaga host Real Madrid for their seventh league match of the season but when the Los Blancos come to town, it is seldom an eventless night. Nevertheless, Malaga will be fully aware of that fact. Malaga themselves are currently placed at 10th spot in the Spanish Primera Division standings, with a weak start to their league season. However, the Spanish minnows have shown their potential but only in inconsistent glimpses.
Nonetheless, if there ever was a time when they needed to step up their game, it is against Real Madrid. Jose Mourinho’s squad of individuals has been slowly transformed into a team and their emphatic win over Deportivo in the last round in the Spanish league is seen as a statement of intent by the former European Cup winners.
Real Madrid are presently third in the Spanish league standings but the Spanish giants are unbeaten in the league season thus far. As a result, when they go visit Malaga, Ronaldo and co. will be striving to keep that record intact. Madrid began their league season with a dull goalless draw against Mallorca. Since then, it seems that the current league season was destined to be a frustrating one for Jose Mourinho’s team but it has proved to be anything but that.
In their second match of the season, Madrid hosted Osasuna at the Santiago Bernabeu stadium; it was an enthralling encounter which eventually ended in a 1-0 win for Real Madrid.
For their third match in the Spanish Primera Division, Madrid visited Real Sociedad to good effect. Sociedad found it extremely hard to match the stars in Jose’s starting line up as the men in white and black ended up as winners by a score line of 2-1. Next up, Espanyol travelled all the way from Catalonia to face Madrid but their trip was a waste of energy as Madrid bested the minnows by thrashing three goals past their despairing goalkeeper.
Real’s most disappointing result of the season came against Levante, a team that they should have easily beaten in their fifth league match of the season. Higuain and his team mates missed a number of chances as Madrid was forced to come away with a goalless draw yet again.
Regardless, Deportivo La Coruna’s six goal to one humiliation at the Santiago Bernabeu in Madrid’s sixth match of the season more than made up for the draw against Levante. Ronaldo and Higuain both got in on the act against Deportivo. The win added another three to Real’s point tally which stands at 14 points after 6 games in the Spanish Primera Division.
On the other hand, Malaga kicked off their league campaign with a loss to Valencia at the Estadio La Rosaleda but in their second league match, they defeated Real Zaragoza by 5-3. Malaga’s third match of the league season saw them facing Sevilla F.C. It was a tough match for the minnows who eventually ended up as second best due to Sevilla’s 2-1 win.
In their fourth match of the Spanish Primera Division, Malaga gained their second victory of the season as they defeated Getafe by two goals to nil at the Estadio Coliseum Alfonso Pérez. Nonetheless, they have not won in their last two league matches as Malaga lost to Villarreal and then drew against UD Almeria in their last league match.
The Venezuelan striker, Jose Rondon is going to be the man to watch out for as far as Malaga is concerned. The young striker has already scored three goals for Getafe in their six league matches whereas Ronaldo will be on the hunt for Real Madrid. The Portuguese winger has netted four goals in six matches for Madrid; Ozil will also be expected to put in a characteristically impressive performance as Madrid will be hoping that the likes of Villarreal and Valencia drop points at the weekend.
