Ninguno means "none" and alguno means "one" or "some". Both are in the infinitive form here, and should be modified as follows based on the nouns they describe:

ningún = masculine noun

ninguna = feminine noun

algún = masculine noun

alguna = feminine noun

Here are some sample sentences.

Quiero alguna comida. = I want some food.

No hay ninguna comida. = There is no[none] food.

Tengo que encontrar algún zapato. = I have to find a/one shoe.

No puedo encontrar ningún zapato. = I can't find any[none] shoe.

Ninguno is used in negative sentences and alguno in positive sentences.  The best way to tell when to use ninguno is if there is a "no" in the sentence preceding the adjective.  They both agree with the noun they modify.  They also both lose the ending (-o) before a single masculine noun.

Here are some examples from my spanish textbook:

Es posible que no lo haga ningun dia.

Algun dia yo voy a visitar espana.

ninguno is like no one, alguno is like everyone. Ninguno=nobody. Alguno=somebody. I think alguno is used in some dialects, more than others. I know the difference. I don't know when to use it.

I would use alguno to mean someone, or somebody.
