  1. costa rica... costa rican beaches are known for their waves and have been called "a surfer's dream." do a little google search on costa rica and surfing. you'll see, it's the place to go.

  2. You can try Jaco Beach in Costa Rica, Jaco is really close to excellent surfing sites plus the town has a lot of spanish tutors, spanish schools and surf guides as well.  Jaco in itself is not extremely expensive and you can probably find a room in a nice house to stay right in front of the beach.

  3. Canoa, Ecuador is perfect. They have good teachers in both fields, and is ideal in surfing. It is a small town where you can meet both the locals and travelers and the beach is nice. You will end up staying there for longer than you intend. i promise.

Also try Montanitas. The waves tend to be more rough. But it is very touristy. Beautiful beach, sunny, and fun atmosphere. Don't know about spanish lessons there, though.

  4. Venezuela would be a good option. Kind of expensive and not very safe but there are good surfing options.

  5. I would urge you to take a close look at Nicaragua. There is a great, active, surfer community there....See links below.

El Salvador would also be a good choice. Both Venezuela and Canoa are also inexpensive and have some great beaches and surfing but are farther away. You have some very good choices here... it's up to you.You could try a month at each place.

  6. in el salvador, the witches rock is a famous surfing area near la libertad.  check out some spanish classes there.  the town is trying to attract many foreign tourists.
