Spanish homework question that doesn't require too much knowledge of the spanish language?

My spanish teacher has assigned a spanish alphabet book containing all 26 letters of the american alphabet and the spanish Rr, Ll, Ch, and Tilde N

I am having trouble finding simple spanish words that start with K, Rr, W, or X.

I think she said that if we can't find a word that starts with Rr, that we can use a word that has RR in it.

If you can help me in anyway it would be greatly appreciated!!! Thanks :)

  1. kilogramo, kermese

    whiskey

xenofobia, Xochimilco (and many other place names)

    burro

  2. There are no words that begin with Rr.  At the beginning of a word they are assumed to automatically have the rolling r sound, so the second r is omitted.  A good word with rr is barril (barrel).

The X is tricky because in the strictest of senses, X at the beginning of a word usually carries the J sound.  For example, the name Ximena is pronounced Jimena.

K words are rare indeed.  Most are adopted from other languages.  Same with W.

    Hope this helps.
