Spanish photo comments?

I am doing a small paper for my school and I wanted to include the incident involving the uproar over the Spanish basketball photo that shows them making their eyes slanted. Unfortunately, I can't find quotes from the NBA, the Lakers, or Nike (Gasol's sponsor) regarding this situation. Did they simply not say anything or am I just not looking in the right places.

I'm not looking to start an opinion war on this question, I just want to know if any of these entities made a comment about the situation for my school report.

They all said it was an inside joke, that it was meant for there sponsor who is chineese.
