The 23-year-old Betis star lost his battle against pelvic cancer after being diagnosed with the illness in late 2011 when it appeared in a routine check-up.
Two weeks before his 24th birthday, Miki Roque gave up in his fight against pelvic cancer. He succumbed to the illness that came up in a routine check-up on Sunday June 24th.
The Spanish U19 star played in the youth ranks of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809 from 2005-07 and made just one official appearance for the Merseyside club in a 3-2 UEFA Champions League victory against Turkish powerhouse, Galatasaray.
During his playing career, Roque donned the jersey of Oldham Athletic, Xerez, Cartagena and Real Betis. It was in his latter project that he gained prominence after impressing with Betis B team.
The defensive midfielder made 12 league appearances for Los Verdiblancos, scoring two goals in the process that aided the Andalusian outfit in their promotion to Spanish top flight football in 2010/12 season.
La Roja players joined in their tribute to the Tremp born player, expressing their disbelief at the loss and tried their best to console the family.
