Spanish riding school????

Do you have to be a boy to try out? Also, one of the requirements was that the rider had finished compulsory schooling. What does that mean?

I went on a study abroad tour this summer, and was able to visit the Spanish Riding School in Vienna, and unfortunately, yes, only males are on the team. It has to do with the state owning the entity and continuing tradition.

I believe the compulsory education just means you have to graduate the equivalent of high school. (but that is just an inference)
