Spark Plug Cap is Broken

Question

Out in the woods here and my generator has run into a small problem. Spark plug cap has has broken off (the part that wraps around the plug is attached to the plug. It still works but is not running well. As a temp. fix could I stuff some tinfoil in there to make a better connection or is that asking for trouble?
