Sparkling Portrait expected to be dominant in Glasgow Stakes
Sparkling Portrait is expected to dominate proceedings in the Glasgow Stakes (Listed Race) at Hamilton in England on Thursday, July 19, 2012. The winner of the class-1 event will be given a cash prize of £20,720.
A total of nine runners had lied up for action in the all important event, but there is a doubt over the participation of a few of them, as the ground has become soft. These conditions do not suit everyone, thus things will be a bit tricky overall.
Stamina will be important in the race, as the runners will have to cover an overall distance of 1 mile, 3 furlongs and 16 yards. Looking at the circumstances, the best chances of victory appear to be with Sparkling Portrait, as he has done well on the soft
ground in the past as well. He has been priced 13 to 8 by the bookies, which shows the level of confidence they have over his abilities.
The three-year-old colt has got a decent record, but his recent form has not been good, which will discourage the punters from placing bets on him. Despite that, it will not be a good idea to risk money against him, as he has the ability to bounce back strongly
at Hamilton today.
Excellent Art’s son out of Time Crystal first appeared on the scene back in October 2011 and his performances were pretty much impressive back then. He started off his career with a third place finish at Musselburgh, which proved that he was capable of challenging
his rivals at the front.
The Richard Fahey’s trainee went onto score another third place finish in the second race of his career, which gave him a lot of confidence. He ended the 2011 season on a high, winning his final event that year at Southwell. He was rated as the favourite
to win back then and stormed to the top by 12 lengths.
Sparkling Portrait won the first couple of races in the 2012 season as well, completing a hat-trick of victories. He was going very strongly, but suddenly started struggling, as he failed to deliver a decent result in his previous two outings. He has a solid
chance to put things back on track under jockey, Paul Hanagan.
