Sparkling Portrait facing strong opposition in Totepool.com Edinburgh Cup at Musselburgh
Sparkling Portrait is in awesome form these days and has an obvious chance of crushing his rivals in the Totepool.com Edinburgh Cup (Handicap), being held at Musselburgh on Saturday, June 2nd. The class-2 meeting
will be kicked off at 15:30 GMT.
Sparkling Portrait is going to face more than a dozen quality runners and their names are as follows: Good Morning Star, Clayton, Ruacana, Silver Blaze, Commitment, Hallmark Star, Bordoni, Stature, Maastricht, Gabrial The Hero,
Scatter Dice, Ukrainian and Angel Gabrial. The winner will be given a handy cash prize worth £31,125.
Sparkling Portrait has been performing brilliantly since the start of this season. The 3-year-old singed out his 2011 campaign on a winning note at Southwell.
Resuming his journey with a huge bang, the bay colt sealed the first position by a neck’s distance at Beverley in April. After a close success, Richard Fahey’s trainee did not relax and demonstrated an even better show at Newmarket
last month.
Al Rayan Handicap saw him pocketing the top prize by ¾ a length. The Mike Browne-owned is not a ground-dependent and with the kind of form he is in at the moment, one can easily expect him to ensure the top status this weekend.
However, despite being in great shape these days, the three-year-old will have to perform out of his skin to do well, because there are plenty of dangerous runners in the line-up.
Scatter Dice clinched two consecutive wins before finishing second last time around. The three-year-old, who was outpaced by Ruacana, would look to avoid such embarrassment this time.
Maastricht was unlucky on his recent seasonal debut, as he missed the crown by ¼ a length. Ruacana, on the other hand, is full of confidence after two successive wins and therefore, has a chance of springing up a surprise.
Silver Blaze was runner-up in his previous trip at Musselburgh. Alan Swinbank’s trainee is facing similar conditions this time and an extra effort can take him to the glory.
There are many in-form runners in the line-up, but according to our calculations, Silver Blaze is going to be the biggest threat to Sparkling Portrait. Good luck to everyone.
