Sparkling Tara, a main player in Gus Robinson Handicap Chase at Sedgefield
After several unlucky defeats early in the season, Sparkling Tara finally managed to present something decent last time. In a nail-biting clash at Sedgefield earlier in September, Sue Smith’s charge ran superbly to capture the second position by 9 lengths.
Meldrum Construction Services Handicap Chase saw him showing an exciting performance, as he kept disturbing the winner all the way through. In the hands of Ryan Mania, he kept on well inside the final furlong, but remained unlucky. Consequently, he missed the gold medal only by a neck’s distance.
Owned by Mrs S. Smith, the 7-year-old should be given respect on his previous good run. He is open to improvement, and can take the big prize home in the Gus Robinson Handicap Chase, to be held on Tuesday, October 2nd.
There are only six participants, but all are mighty talented. So, the spectators are likely to witness a thrilling battle. The class 4 contest is going to get started at 15:20 GMT. A prize of £3,054 will go to the ultimate champion.
Saddlers Deal showed a good effort a couple of starts ago, but still has stamina to prove at 2m4f. Five Out Of Five is consistent, but not really threatening.
The Fox´s Decree, on the other hand, will be an interesting contestant. Martin Keighley’s charge has been performing quite consistently since the start of this season. On his latest trip at Newton Abbot, the 8-year-old was third behind Allerton.
He has run 36 races so far, but tasted success only once. His sole win came in the hands of A. P. McCoy last year. The Fox's Decree’s recent stats show that he needs to think out of the box, because the typical strategy will not work.
Tregaro registered his maiden win here last month. An 8lb rise might prevent a repeat. Earl Grez ran well when runner-up one race ago, and should be given some respect on that.
Denying a significant rise in weights will be a tough task, but we expect Tregaro to show some fight against Sparkling Tara. The latter still remains the best one to bet on. Good luck to all the horses.
