  1. Since you don't say where you are hearing the noise from I suspect you mean at the spark plugs.

The clicking noise can [ may ]  be coming from the Spark jumping from the wire to the spark plug when it isn't put on correctly  or isn't quite tight enough . Put it on if it is off.

If not tight correct it by taking the wire off the spark plug and gently squeeze the  round end of the wire so it is a little oval .

That way it can gripe the top of the spark plug a little tighter.

If the clicking is on the top then it is most likely the injectors and you haven't heard them before.

  2. It sounds like you have a bad plug wire or one is off.

  3. some times the shaft (the threaded part )is too long and taps on the piston top had the same prob with a vintage harley

  4. You must have trying to use different spark plug.  You will need to get original spark plug (MOTORLCRAFT).  I believe they take double platium.  You don't have to go to the Stealership, call your local auto parts stores.  The same thing happened to my Ranger.

  5. The plug wire is either not completely on or it is cracked.  : )

  6. The wire is sparking onto a header or valve cover. This happened to my 95 stang. It sounded like it was clicking but when I looked at eack wire I noticed the insulation was worn where it was rubbing against the header and this is where the sound was coming from. I moved the wire to a different position and it performed better and was quiet.

  7. Pull the plugs out and re do the whole process again. It is much easier than trying to find the offender. Re gap, check wire routing, etc.

  8. It could be the a spark plug isn't screwed all the way in or you have a plug wire that's not all the way on. I seem to have trouble getting them to stay on at the distributor cap, so you might check to see if there all the way on at the cap. By the way you could wait until it gets dark , then go out side and start you car up and raise the hood , if you have a bad or loose spark plug wire you will see a spark at that spot.
