Hi,
My cleaning guy plugged my 110V Kirby G4 into 220V outlet... (it was purchased in the US, but now I am in Israel using 220V via a transformer, but forgot to brief the new cleaning guy)
It obviously filled the house with a burnt smell...
Surprisingly, the Kirby motor still works and rotates, but there are a lot of sparks coming out from the carbon brushes and the commutator.
I managed to disassemble most of the Kirby. I cleaned the brushes and the commutator, but the sparks continue. I suspect the armature isolation is damaged.
1. Do you think this may be the problem?
2. How come it continues to rotate?
3. Do I need to replace the armature?
Thanks,
Ofer
