Sparring injury.?...?

So I was sparring with my brother.. You're typical all out MMA fighting, just the gloves, & a mouth guard, anyway I was landing more hits, countering better, & had a couple of take downs, until I got really comfortable & let my guard down & my brother caught me with a really hard right hook, It rocked me a bit, but I didn't get knocked out, I could've continued fighting, but it surprised me, then he told me that I was bleeding, so we decided to stop the fight. Turns out it's a pretty deep gash, about two inches long over my right eyebrow, I've had cuts & bruises before, but never a gash on impact.. I've been looking all over the net to find how to patch this up properly ,so I can continue sparring again.. Any advice? Thanks.

  1. no big deal, i had a a couple gashes like that, just go get it stitched up, youll be good to go in a couple weeks..... theres other ways where you don have to get it stitched up, but youll have  big scar, which will most likely open up again if your punched i the same spot.... just g get it closed up, itle take a couple minutes

  2. Yeah - even if it's closed up and not bleeding, you need stitches.

It will heal on it's own but it will scar, at least some. If you let it heal on it's own it will be more likely to get split next time you get hit.  Stitches will help it heal cleaner and more quickly.  Get it done quickly before the scar tissue forms.

You can use butterfly bandages which will hold the skin together better while it heals, but a good doc can hook you up cheap and fast - and better than you'll do on your own.
