As the race for the UEFA Champions League places heats up, Spartak Moscow have moved up to the third spot on the Russian Premier League table after recording their second win of the third league round against Kuban Krasnodar at

Former Dynamo Moscow player, Alexander Panov, has predicted a second place finish for the Red-whites, behind the table-toppers, Zenit. Panov, meanwhile, revealed that the Meshki will retain the league title this season.
“I don’t think that Zenit will lose their massive lead on the league table in the remaining matches of the ongoing season. Luciano Spalletti could only get himself to trouble only if Zenit lose three or more games in a row.” The
Russian Cup winner was quoted as saying.
"Though they made a terrible start to third league round, they are favourites to land the second spot. They are playing quality football at the moment."
The 36-year-old forward went on to express his delight over Spartak’s latest win against Kuban, admitting that the Moscow-based club deserved to win the crunch league encounter at home.
