Valery Karpin has told the media that the Russian outfit will name their new coach after the end of the ongoing Russian Premier League campaign
Spartak Moscow head coach, Valery Karpin, has admitted that the Moscow-based club are considering a few options for the post of head coach, but will make a decision after the end of the ongoing Russian
Premier League campaign.
Reports in the Russian media recently suggested that Spartak have signed Unai Emery, who has resigned from http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Valencia-c40863 earlier this week, to replace Karpin at Luzhniki stadium. However, Karpin denied such reports, and insisted that
it is not more than a rumour.
“Currently, Spartak are negotiating with 4-5 candidates, but no contract is signed with anyone of them. All negotiations will be conducted only after May 13, at the end of the Russian championship.
“Spartak are conducting preliminary negotiations by interviewing coaches, whether they are ready in principle to come to Russia or not. But these conversations are not about the terms and conditions.” The former Real Sociedad player
was quoted as saying.
The former Valencia manager blamed the media for making up the stories, and assured the fans that there is no truth behind the rumours. He believes that Spartak still have a decent chance to qualify for the UEFA Champions League
despite a nightmare start to the third league round.
Karpin’s future is under scrutiny after a series of disappointing results during the ongoing round. There is little arguing that the Myaso have failed to meet expectations during the round, having claimed just 14 points in 11 outings.
However, their latest 3-2 win over Zenit St. Petersburg has given them a life-line in their quest to qualify for the Champions League next season. A win in the upcoming game against Lokomotiv Moscow might provide them a swift route
into the European competition.
As things stand, the Spartachi are at the third-spot in the league, and trail the second-spot by measly a point.
Speaking on Yuri Krasnozhan’s possible appointment, Karpin revealed that he does not want to disrespect any individual by telling his name.
