Spartak Moscow midfielder, Aiden McGeady, played the entire 90 minutes against Russia in the qualifying match of Euro-2012 for his national team, Republic of Ireland. McGeady was speaking to the media after his team’s 0-0 draw against the Russia team and
expressed his satisfaction with the outcome of the meeting.
The Irish national further admitted that Russians are playing good football under the leadership of d**k Advocaat.
The Scottish Cup winner revealed that it was a difficult match and he was exhausted after playing the entire match. McGeady was sidelined for two months after sustaining a knee injury in the Russian Premier League. The Irish national revealed that he needs
match fitness in order to get in proper shape.
Ireland defender http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Shay-Given-c33284 made a couple of fabulous saves in the dying moments of the game. McGeady hailed his team’s defence by
revealing that Ireland proved their critics wrong by displaying great character in defence.
“We are very pleased with today's match. To manage a draw away is a good result and in general, the opponent played better. I am satisfied with my game but I need time to get in shape because this is my only second game after the injury. The Russian team
had a good first half, the opponent created many chances against us but we defended well. In the second half we denied our opponents from stretching our defence. So in general we are satisfied to draw away from home.”The former Celtic FC player was quoted
as saying.
The Scottish League Cup winner revealed that Ireland are working hard in order to occupy the top spot in their respective group and hoped to progress to later stages of the European tournament.
McGeady is currently preparing to book his place in the playing eleven for the Myaso when they take on FK Amkar Perm in their upcoming league encounter.
