CSKA Moscow defender Vasili Berezutski has expressed his frustration over a poor tackle executed by Spartak Moscow striker, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Welliton-c36773, which caused a serious injury to CSKA goalkeeper, Igor Akinfeev. The Russian defender was speaking to the media after his
team’s 2-2 draw against the Myaso.
Berezutski blasted the Brazilian national for the ugly tackle. Welliton was shown a yellow card after the horror tackle on the Russian goalkeeper. The UEFA Cup winner insisted that the Spartak player should have been sent off over the incident.
The Moscow-based striker is currently facing a six-match ban, enforced by the Russian Football Union. The Koni defender wished his goalkeeper a speedy recovery and expected the 25-year-old to return to his feet in no time. Akinfeev has already travelled
to Germany where he will get his anterior cruciate ligament and the damaged meniscus operated upon.
“It is clear that Welliton made a very ugly and rude tackle. I was going to block the Brazilian, but Igor shouted that he was the first player on the ball, so I moved to the far post. Welliton was not even looking at the ball and just wanted to hit the keeper
after jumping in the air. Igor landed badly on the ground after losing balance. I was surprised to see a yellow card from the referee after such an ugly tackle. Now we are waiting for the results of medical examinations and hoping everything goes well with
Igor.” The 29-year-old was quoted as saying.
Berezutski admitted that it is a big loss at a crucial time in the Russian Premier League. The Army Men have already lost the top position after a series of laggard performances and bad results. The Armeytsy have only managed to claim three points from their
last five league encounters.
The Russian Super Cup winner further highlighted that the Army Men have complete confidence in their backup goalkeepers.
