Speaker Questions about Infinity Gold System

i have a jeep grand Cherokee Laredo with an infinity gold sound system. i just replaced the front right tweeter in the dash about 3 weeks ago due to it buzzing, everything was fine then the left side tweeter began to go out and now its just as bad as the other side was... i read suggestions to replace these in pairs, just wondering if this would have anything to do with the problem, cause i dont see why it should, especially when this time around i was conservative in my volume levels.... suggestions would be appreciated

  1. volume does not damage speakers, its distortion- a clipped signal

Clipping is a form of waveform distortion that occurs when an amplifier is overdriven, which happens through attempts to increase the voltage or current beyond its maximum power capability. Driving an underpowered amplifier into clipping is the most common cause of speaker failure.

    this will explain everything http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Clipping_(a...

Because the clipped waveform has more area underneath it than the smaller maximum unclipped waveform, the amplifier produces more output power. This extra power can cause damage to any part of the loudspeaker, including the woofer, tweeter, or crossover, via overheating.

In the frequency domain, clipping produces strong harmonics in the high-frequency range. Extra high-frequency weighting of a signal is more likely to damage tweeters than a signal that was not clipped as higher high frequency power levels are delivered to the tweeter. However most loudspeakers are designed to handle signals with abundant high frequencies, like cymbal crashes, which have a greater high-pitch frequency weighting than amplifier clipping could produce.[
