how much airspace should i have for a seald box for two 10" JL W3 subs

i want a sealed box so how big should it be

im thinkin 1cubic ft for each but im not sure

  1. Check the spec manual, they will tell you exactly how much leg room each sub should have.  It will probably be around 1.0 to 1.25 cu.ft per sub, each in their own sealed part of the box

The above answerer (bigger is better) is dead wrong.  The size of the cavity depends on the resonant frequency at which you want the box to be most reactive, and that is VERY hard to do with a stiff (unported) box, especially with a sub.  It is also completely unnecessary to isolate them from one another, so long as you have the same signal going to both.

    I would highly recommend rear porting it, even though the math is a little harder for this type, you'll be a lot happier with the performance.  A stiff box will be very 'boomy' at one freq, forcing you to EQ it electronically, which always makes it sound not-so-good.
