Speaker drivers power rating - RMS vs IEC power rating?

Hi

- I bought a small Speaker driver which says - 15w/8 ohm.

- I am planning to connect it to an amplifier which has a 15w/8 ohm output

So would the setup give me a device with 15w RMS rating?

If not, what is the difference between RMS power rating and the Power rating written on the back of the Speaker driver.

  1. RMS watts/8ohm. root mean square, is the effective power that will be delivered to your speaker that has a nominal resistance of 8ohms, so that would be the 15watts RMS / 8 ohm. You have a system that is running around 15 watts rms.

The maximum watts in this system will be around 21 watts, 15 divided by .707(the square root of 2 divided by2).

If you want to go in depth, I attached a link to explain RMS.
