Speaker identification?

I was at this party a few years ago and this guy had this little speaker thing that by itself wouldn't make sound, but if he stuck it to a mirror or something, it'd use the mirror as an amp or something. Haven't seen anything like them since, but then, I've had then same pair of headphones since high school (5 years ago), so I'm not up with the latest in speaker tech.

  1. This technology was actually first introduced in the late '70s then brought back a few years ago.

It works fairly good but not really for an audiophile.

    Makes for great conversational piece.

  2. Its called a transducer. Uses any solid surface to transmit sound waves. Here is the homepage to one of the manufacturers. Click on Products, then SD1g .Pretty cool stuff.
