Speaker manufacturer refusal to fix defective product: which Gov Agency to file complaint? Item under Warranty

I purchased a pair of Infinity Interlude Speakers from Harman Consumer Groups a little under 5 years ago. Recently I noticed that one of the speakers was lacking treble and I took it an Infinity Repair Shop which discovered that tweeter was never installed in this unit. I called and emailed Harman and a guy replied that they would not fix it because I have had it for too long.

I am angry and would like to file a complaint with a Government Agency and BBB. Warranty will expire July 2008.

Start with the BBB.  They will probably be able to tell you which Government Agency you could also file with.

Dont waste your time. Buy a new tweeter for $30 and forget about it.

The only thing worse than getting screwed by a huge company is navigating the largest beurocracy in the world and eventually get nowhere.

Put in a complaint if you like but I still would get the speaker fixed anyway - it should be an inexpensive repair.  It may take a long time to get the complaint resolved.  I would want my tweeter right away.  The Infinity repair shop may have mercy on you and do it for next to nothing.

Stick with Harman first.

If it under warranty and you can prove it, they have to do it.

Call support and explain the situation. If they say no, ask for a supervisor - or second level support.

If that fails, send them a certified letter (and keep a copy). If that fails, keep their response as evidence in case you want to take further action.
