Question:

Speaker problems?

I have the Logitech Z-5400 Digital.

Firstly, when I test the optical output from the computer, only front right and left work. Is this normal or do I need to change settings to say it is 5.1 surround sound? I leave the effect on PL II Music so does this mean I won't get 'true' surround sound or will it change automatically if it detects a surround sound signal?

Also, I can't get 6 channel direct to work. Im 98% sure that everything is plugged in right, but when I test the speakers, only front right and front left work. I've been on configure speakers and changed it to 5.1 but the only tones that play are front left and front right.

btw, I have plugged in all 3 leads. The sub/centre, front R/L, and RR/RL are all plugged in both sides, and are in the right colours :D

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

  1. sounds like all u really need is a true 5.1 digital signal, make sure u are playing a movie or game with the 5.1 digital signal! otherwise all that will play is the 2 channel sound!
