  1. What speakers you buy is dependent on what you have to drive them with.  If you have only a 15W per channel amplifier, then you need some small effiecient speakers.  If you have 150W, then the world is open to you.

Now, that being said, Cambridge sound works has some decent models at your price range.  Vandersteen, Boston Acoustics, Polk Audio, are some brands you might look at.  Parasound has some good ones, too, but I am not sure about your price range.

You have to be reasonable here, you aren't going to ratlle the rafters with bass and still have an excellent quality sound with good clarity and definition.  It isn't possible at 150 dollars with todays technology.

Start by what you have to drive them in terms of power and go from there.

  2. Hummm I am 14 and I have lots of Speakers. I got everything from ebay.com

  3. Any "home theater" you purchase like a (HTIB) under $400, you will be disappointed with

    Good luck.

More questions? Just e-mail me. I have owned a home theater business.

  4. Hey, I am in college and I bought these: http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?...

for my dorm room. They look pretty sweet and are loud. I got them on sale for $72 bucks by the way, so make sure you don't get ripped off.

Do you already have a receiver? If not, that will cost a lot of money, at least $125, possibly less on craigslist.

Assuming you do have a receiver, get some 16-gauge wire at walmart or best buy and use it to hook your speakers up to your receiver. As far as Ipod compatibility, get this: http://www.radioshack.com/sm-3-ft-gold-s...

Plug the big ends into the back of the receiver (possibly in the 'cd' sockets, and the other end into the ipod. Now, you can select the cd function on your receiver and play the ipod through the receiver.

    Good luck with things.

  5. More information is needed, such as what kind of amplifier you are using.

As for your price range, a set of bookshelf speakers by JBL, Polk Audio, Infinity, or CerwinVega! may be good choices (provided that you have decent amplification to drive them).

Remember that prices are usually PER SPEAKER instead of it being for a pair, so a $70 speaker may require you to spend $140 to get the pair needed for 2 channel stereo.

Or, try to look for used speakers.

And, don't forget to always audition them so you know what they will sound like.  However, the best way to audition any prospective speaker is to listen to them in the environment they will be used in (your home).

And, do not get suckered by white van speaker guys.
