Ok, if

http://www.cerwinvegamobile.com/VMAX12.php

and

http://www.cerwinvegamobile.com/VMAX10.php

I.E. Freq and wattage are the same, how will the 12 inch sound any different than the 10 inch?

Just wondering which one I should get for a small car. Will this 10 inch give a good deep bass?

Thanks

  1. the quick and easy answer?  all things being equal, the 12 will produce more bass than the 10.

however, surface area of the woofer is not the only factor in determining how much bass is produced.....

a good quality subwoofer (whether 10 or 12) will produce a good amount of bass in a small car.....

  2. a 10 in woffer will most likley have a better transent response or it is faster and should be a bit tighter soundin if it is in the correct enclosure driven by a good clean power and signal source

  3. With all specs bing equal....the 10" sub will give you a quicker, tighter, more controlled sound.

The 12" will give you more of a 'liquid' sound.

But all of this pales in comparison to the fact that either sub will need to be controlled with a fast, high current, efficient amplifier.

  4. Sound is basically displaced air.  So if a 10" and 12" are moving back and forth at  the same frequency with the same power in theory the 12" will move more air giving you more sound. But there are other factors that determine how loud it will sound like what the cones are made of the type of enclosure etc... 10" in a small car will give plenty of bass but depending on what you like you may kind of get used to it and want more. I did.  If you can afford it get the 12" they will be louder which is what you are looking for i assume.
