On each of the end terminals i have a cable going to a speaker and then the negative terminals from the speakers come back through the terminal on the 3.5 jack closest to the ipod. 1. Amp it. Go to a good car audio place, and hook yourself up with an amp. My 100 watt system goes almost as loud as my friends 300 watt system, cause i got a better amp. Makes a huge difference.

  2. Does the boombox have a tape deck? If so  put it back together and use a cassette adapter like this one.

  3. more than likely the pod's speaker output is not powerful enough to drive the speakers.  you will need to put it into some type of an amplifier in order to boost the signal enough to drive the speakers.  make sure that you keep the speakers in the same phase or it will sound like c**p.

  4. Do you have the iPod volume adjustment in Settings turn up all the way? Not the volume control, but an internal setting. Read the instruction book.
