I have this tv:

I just want a couple of floor speakers to go by my chair. I dont know what to look for in speakers or what i need. I know on the side of my tv it says digital audio input, but I dont know if that helps or not. I would really like wireless speakers, but i have no clue about any of this. I am not looking for anything too fancy or expensive, just stuff to give some extra sound. So what do I look for???

  1. Hi, I'm a Home Theater Specialist at Best Buy. To answer some of questions, your digital audio input isn't necessary, what you want is an audio output. Your TV should have a digital audio out (an orange connection), or a Fiber Optic Out (a small flap). These will carry out high definition sound (you don't want to use red and white A/V cables). Buying floor speakers are generally pretty expensive, costing  anywhere from $150 to $500 EACH. You can buy a really good center speaker for about $150 to $300. Basically, the center speaker is going to carry the main sound (talking, explosions, etc) while the floor speakers carry more of the ambient noises (planes in the air flying by, cars passing, people in the background). So I personally recommended buying a $300 center speaker instead of a $700 pair of floors.

Really good brands of speakers are Klipsch, Polk Audio and JBL. Yamaha is pretty good too. (I don't really like Bose though)

As for wireless speakers, there is no such thing as "true wireless." But if you go to Best Buy, we have a wireless sender which connects to your TV (or receiver), and sends audio signals to a wireless audio receiver. The speakers still have to be wired to the receiver however. These run for about $100.

    I hope this helps.
