Question:

Speakers sound quieter after getting subwoofers??

I just added 2 12 inch upper end sub woofers to my system, along with an amp and a new head unit. My after factory speakers are a middle of the line alpine 2 yrs ago, so similar to a base alpine set now, with an amp of the same magnitude.

They used to have quite a bit of power, but now it seems with the subwoofers they seem quieter...sure if u turn the subs down to negative it sounds better. I can't fade them to the front because i only have one set of RCA cables ran which is doing the balance I guess.

If I turn the volume way up, they sound good, but it seems they are less powerful/quieter at low volumes...have any ideas?

  1. it probably just sounds quieter because of all the bass

  2. they are quieter at low volume..

    wonder how that is possible...

  3. turn the treble up that will help also install a small amp to the head unit for the speakers themself it will bring the sound up i had 2 tens and 4 6x9 and 2 5 1/4s the tens were hooked to a kenwood 720 amp and the others were hooked up to a 520 amp it sounded great all the way around

  4. go buy a capacitor..
