Speaking of the eclipse...?

Is there any website out there that will let me calculate when the next partial (or full) eclipse will be visible in my area? I already know that I won't be seeing the August 1st one, but does anyone know when the next visible eclipse (partial or full, preferably a full eclipse) will occur in Alberta, Canada?

  1. Here is a website which allows you to obtain a list of predictions for your own city:

    http://eclipse.gsfc.nasa.gov/JSEX/JSEX-N...

The web page contains a list of cities in North America, but only Calgary and Edmonton in Alberta. If you live elsewhere, you can still obtain predictions if you know your latitude and longitude.

  3. Hi Chariots!

The next total solar eclipse for Alberta will be August 22, 2044.

In fact, most of your province lies in the path of totality for this unusually wide total eclipse.  Edmonton and Calgary as well as everyone else in Alberta except for the northeast.  The largest center that will miss it is Bonnyville.

Totality happens between 7:15 and 7:45 p.m., Mountain Daylight Time, that early evening, August 22 [not a typo], 2044.
