Spear Cretin Rule?

Question

With spear Cretin his effect says:

FLIP: After this card is flipped, when it is sent to the graveyard, both you and your opponent select 1 monster from your graveyards and special summon it on the field in face up attack position or face down defence.

does that mean that if:

Your opponents field is full

or

Your opponent has no monster in there graveyard

that you can't use his effect or do you just use the effect and your opponent does not

You could not use this effect if your opponent has no more room or has no monsters in his graveyard. The card states that Both select 1 monster. It's the cost of the flip effect. For example, take the magic card "the shallow grave" it states that you and your oppenent Both special summon 1 monster in face down defence position. If my opponent has no room on no monsters in his graveyard, the I cannot active this card. Sorry but you wouldn't be able to use this effect in this case.

Spear Cretin's post-effect possibilities:

Still works if YOU have at least one monster in YOUR graveyard.

Still works if OPPONENT has at least one monster in HIS (or HER) graveyard

Will not work if no monster is in EITHER player's graveyard AND both side of the monster zones are full.
