While talking to reporters, he said: “I’m at a club which is worldwide, I don’t think there are many players who are going say I don’t want to come to Liverpool. Being a local lad I’m lucky enough to play for the team I've always supported.”
Even though the Reds are yet to make their first signing during the summer, Brendan Rodgers revealed that some reinforcements are due to arrive by the end of the week.
With the midfielder having set himself the target of being a regular in the first-team this coming season, he vowed to give it his all to impress the new gaffer at the helm and was hopeful that he will be able to keep him from signing a player in his position.
“New players will come in, some after the summer or in the January transfer window, I have to stake my claim and show the manager that he doesn’t have to go and buy players in my position,” he added.
He also claimed that Rodgers' appointment marked the beginning of a new era at Anfield and felt that it will provide a chance for all the players to make a fresh start.
