I want to become a special education teacher (I am only in high school now). Does anyone know of any good schools in Ohio (or the surrounding states) to get a good special educator degree?

  1. First thing look at area colleges for teaching programs once you find one or two with great teacher training programs ask about speical education accredidation. Your guidance counselor at high school can also steer you towards colleges that have your interested major. That is what your counselor is there for.

  2. Hood College is a small private school in Frederick, Maryland. It has ranked second of 160 regional schools in the "Great Schools, Great Prices" section of the U.S. News & World Report's 2008 edition of America's Best Colleges. Hood has consistently scored high in the 22 years the magazine has been publishing the rankings. The annual rankings of more than 1,400 colleges and universities in the U.S. take into consideration dozens of factors, including academic quality, student retention rates, resources available to faculty, graduation rates, alumni giving rates, student quality, reputation among peer schools and financial resources.

Hood also has an internationally recognized Education Department. The College is well known in the world of CEC (Council for Exceptional Children) and has recently re-opened its student chapter. They send at least one student each year to the annual conference (fully funded).
