I would appreciate any insight as I desperately want to do well on the praxis in order to start teaching special education. I love what I do and I don't want the praxis to stop me. Thanks :).

  1. 1.  Go to the praxis web site:

    http://www.ets.org/portal/site/ets/menui...

    2. Buy a special ed. study guide for $25.

    3. Study it like no one's business!

    4.  Pass the praxis.

Good luck.  If you follow all these steps you will enjoy success.

  2. I didn't do anything.  I didn't study at all.  Sadly, there is a low standard for teachers.  As much as we need good teachers, we aren't in the position to prevent people from becoming teachers either.

  3. Read everything you can get your hands on, but relax.  If you have some hands-on experience in a decent classroom, you will probably be able to eliminate at least a third of the answers on the test.  Of course, you need background knowledge, but pay attention to the question and rationally choose an answer.  Do pay attention to little kids' programming through transition programming if you are going for a K-12 test.  It will all be on there.  Remember, too, that you need to study federal laws without regard to state and local amendments and practices.  Reading through national parent/community group websites for your specific area might give you a mental break from studying but enriching your knowledge at the same time.  **The more you know, the easier the reasoning through two similiar answers.**

  4. Go to the praxis website, there are practice tests there.  I took the tests from ed, mr,and ld because my certification is cross cat.  But i printed them all out and took them, read over information i missed and studied.

    Good luck

I didn't think it was that hard of a test.  Just read it carefully because i remember the answers sounding very similar.
