What would happen if you just graduated college and you went straight to the Army into the Special Forces Q Course to become a special forces officer and you failed the special forces training? What would happen, would you have to start all over again for a officer or change another specialty?

  1. I don't know how it is now, but when I was in, I never saw a Lt unless he was awaiting promotion to Captain.

David, you catch grief because you have no idea what you are talking about.

  2. That would never happen.

Newly commissioned officer can not apply for special forces.

You have to be at least a 1st Lt promotable, before you can apply .

If you fail, you are returned to your last unit.

  3. well first of all im assuming that you didnt attend ROTC, and that will be the basis for my answer.  first IF you graduated with a bachelors degree and joined the ARMY then YOU WILL GO TO BASIC TRAINING.  then right after that if your looking to be an officer YOU WILL GO TO OCS (Officer Canidate School).  then after that you may attend the Q course.  if you fail out of the Q course then you will be reassigned another branch in the ARMY and you can reapply to the course after 6 months.

  4. In Australia we don't allow Ruperts to go straight to Special Forces. They have to get a few years experience elsewhere in the army first. in fact if you want to go SAS as an officer you have to either be a Captain or have had a regimental posting as a Lieutenant first before you can even sit selection.

  5. Ive had some grief off the yanks for sayin stuff like this before, but here goes. It not special forces you have (ie Marines Force Recon and Rangers) it specialists ie better than the usual infantry buggers, its the same for us brits we have Paras and Marines and Guards Regmnt, slightly better than the average bear booboo, but n ot special forces.

Special forces are SAS, Seals for example, so how in gods name cud a 21 year old go from school to be a bloody officer of troop like Seals/SAS.

Not special forces , you hear me

Hiya to those who will think Im being provocative about above, honest Im not into USA baiting, I worked with your Force recon (Gulf War 1) and your Rangers somewhere else. Nice guys very specialist, but not special forces. unfortunately I do know what Im talking about but Im just trying to be objective, sometimes stepping back you can see better, I didnt realise that you had to step back across the atlantic.

    Best wishes

    Specialist Recon not SF

    British Army

  6. One thing is for sure.....if you enlisted to go sf and got injured or failed any phase of the training they would send you to another base where you would complete your term of service as an infantryman....probably Fort Hood, Texas hahahaha.....

You could get take the training again if you got it in your contract (if you decided to reenlist when that time comes)

But that doesn't really answer your question....

My best guess would be that you would have to enter the service as another type of officer.....so they could s***w you if you did fail and send you off to another unit....most likely being a paperwork *****....

But if an army officer failed sf training they would certainly have the opportunity able to try again at a later time.........

Most important to keep in mind though.......is your mindset!!!!

If you don't consider failure as an option then you are much, much more likely to complete the training

  7. you become an infantry officer, not to worry, becoming an infantry officer first gives you a much higher chance when you try out for SF again
