Special License for Moped?

Do you need a special License for a moped or Vespa scooter in NYS?

i know in most states if the engine size is below 50cc all you need is a drivers license. and most scooters are 49cc. Its not a bad idea though to take the motorcycle courses. specially the driving ones.

The vespa LX is a 150cc scooter, in nys you don't need a special license or even a motorcycle license to ride it. Just a regular D drivers license is it, so being as the youngest possible age to obtain a "D" license is 17 that's all the requirement you need. Thanks to the first answer for being and idiot and stating nothing but the blatantly obvious. And jace is right on I would recommend the bikers course to anyone, even non riders, that may sound a lil excessive but it mike give people a little more insight to how riding an actual motorcycle really is.
