Special Report: The German Football League, Bundesliga’s amazing differences, GFL head Christian Seifert
Why is the lucrative Bundesliga so efficient and prosperous:
In response to the question to why the Bundesliga league is so profitable when compared with others, Christian Seifert responded by saying that there are two main core reasons to why this is.
First being their strict licensing policy in which every club has to first prove that they have sufficient funds to play the league season. Second thing that he pointed out was the German mentality, which is to spend as much as you have and nothing more.
Both these things are major factors and it’s because of both of these reasons that these clubs are so profitable.
Why is the Bundesliga so popular in its home despite being less recognized in comparison to the English Premier League:
When it was asked from Seifert how the Bundesliga have such a regular high attendance number, he responded with the factors that after since the 2006 World Cup, they have the most modern stadiums, when related to infrastructure. They also have cheap ticket prices which make it more of an affordable thing, something that is done regularly, and they didn’t stop their season tickets.
Another major reason is that the Bundesliga are very unpredictable, anything can happen and people cannot guess the outcome of the match. Obviously, that makes it all more entertaining, as a German Coach who won the 1954 World Cup commented on the matter that the only reason people come to the stadium is because they don’t know how the game is going to end.
Why majority of Bundesliga clubs are owned by fans:
When asked on the matter that a lot of clubs are owned by their fans and if this is a good or a bad thing, Seifert commented by saying that this has always been a rule in Germany that 50% of clubs votes and plus one has to be with the original organization that formed the club. Therefore, they need to have the ruling control in the club by law. Basically, the club is controlled by the fans and this may be called an advantage now but before it was seen as a disadvantage as the clubs don’t get as much money this way, as they could possibly generate and due to that, same reasons less people tend to invest the leagues.
Right now it is seen as an advantage as out of the 36 clubs in Bundesliga, 35 said that they want to continue with this rule and will remain loyal to their history and to the place where they came from and this maybe is a major reason for the success of the Bundesliga.
Why Bayern Munich is the only German team to gain world wide popularity:
Seifert went on to answer this question by saying Bayern Munich have been absolutely outstanding, and what is different about them is that they realized a long time ago that it is very important to make the brand name recognized and famous outside of Germany. There has always been a team like this in every decade for example in the 80s there was Koeln and in the 70s there was Borussia Moenchengladbach and all of them had very talented players in the teams but none of them have been given the same treatment as Bayern Munich.
This may be a disadvantage for the Bundesliga that they don’t have the big two or three as other leagues do. There were other teams like Werder Bremen and Schalke, these teams made it in a better way comparatively to improve the Bundesliga fame. This is a fact that no one can deny, that the Bundesliga have produced many great teams but that does not change the fact that out of all those teams Bayern Munich is the best.
